Our graduate recruitment team consists of partners and members of the HR team, all of whom take a keen interest in meeting the future fee-earners of the firm.
Graduate Recruitment Manager
Mary Kenny-Moth, Senior HR Adviser, manages recruitment for the programme and its implementation.
A variety of partners take part in the interview process and are supervisors, in their respective departments, throughout the programme.
Partners Nick Phillips and Nicola Maher lead the process and are regularly involved throughout the two-year training period.
Nick is a Training Principal at the firm and leads our Graduate Programme, together with Nicola Maher.
Nick qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and joined Edwin Coe as a partner in 2013. Prior to joining Edwin Coe Nick co-founded and subsequently headed the IT/IP department in a large regional firm.
Nicola is a Training Principal at the firm and leads our Graduate Programme together with Nick.
Although she has now been practicing for over 20 years, Nicola has remained involved in the graduate recruitment process throughout her career and takes a keen interest in the progress and well-being of our trainees, recognising the importance of a solid, practical, and supportive training programme to give future associates the best start to their careers.
During your time as a trainee, you will be allocated to four seats from a range of practice areas, each one lasting for six months. In each seat, you will be assisting the whole department and will be exposed to a wide variety of matters.
No two days will be the same as, for example, you will gain court experience, attend client meetings, complete research for various projects, attend social events with clients and other contacts, attend seminars or write articles for our newsletters and blogs.
From day one you will be given the opportunity to work on your own matters, under the guidance of a supervising partner or fee-earner. Training really does start from the moment you step through the door on your first day and continues throughout the two years you spend with us completing your training contract.
At Edwin Coe, we offer professional support throughout your career and have an established development programme for all our fee-earners.
Many of our partners are involved at a high level in professional bodies and associations, or are contributors and authors of established legal texts.
A considerable number of our partners and senior solicitors are also ranked in the two leading legal directories, Chambers & Partners and Legal 500, ensuring you are learning from the some of the best lawyers within the legal industry.
Although you will have a busy workload, we offer various opportunities throughout the year to meet and socialise with the rest of the firm.
We have a cup winning football team, a fearsome netball team, cricketers and a social committee team to arrange a whole host of staff social events.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
We fully support our commitment to CSR with a number of ongoing events and initiatives throughout the year. We also encourage every person in the firm to take a day off to provide volunteer services to the community. For further information please see our CSR area.
