Alex is an Associate in the Property and Trust Litigation Department who advises on a broad range of both commercial and residential property litigation matters, as well as covering trust concepts.
Alex acts on behalf of both commercial and residential landlords and tenants, property owners, property developers and agents in a wide variety of matters. Her experience includes advising clients on pretty much any property-related dispute, as well as technical landlord and tenant issues such as dilapidations and other disrepair issues, service charge and rental arrears disputes, advice on exercising break options, dealing with forfeiture claims and also lease renewal applications under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954. She particularly enjoys unpicking complex problems involving trust issues and advising clients on unusual niche issues that have arisen, such as those relating to easements, repudiatory breaches of leases and licenses, agricultural tenancies and claims under the Trust of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.
The experience of acting for such a diverse client base means that Alex understands the toll that litigation can take on both businesses and individuals and as such she takes a pragmatic approach to her clients’ objectives and where appropriate aims to guide clients to a swift commercial resolution. Where that is not possible, Alex is an accomplished litigator in the High Court, County Courts and also the First-tier Tribunal, even having experience of addressing property issues in the Family Courts and so she is well placed to advise strategically on the correct arena should a matter escalate.
