Trainee Solicitor 2021-2023

Edwin Coe’s training contract provides a broad range of experiences and a high degree of responsibility from an early stage. Trainees can expect to have a good level of contact with clients and be in control of their own matters. While that might seem daunting for some of those applying, the firm’s culture is very supportive and asking a lot of questions is not just permitted, but encouraged. All trainees’ work is nevertheless supervised and fed back on, and in all departments there is a culture of investing in trainee development.

Away from your desk you’ll find that you will be encouraged to attend various networking and social events, which really helps with developing personal relationships both within and outside of the firm. There are also some great social activities which the firm participates in, such as the London Legal Walk and City 5K race.

From my own experience as a trainee sitting in the Employment, Property and Trusts Litigation, Property and Construction departments, I can safely say all of my seats were interesting and provided varied and challenging tasks. I was able to work closely with individuals with a high level of knowledge of their practise area, but who are also good to work with on a personal level. Day to day tasks and working hours did depend on the seat and how busy the department was, but I found the workload to be manageable and the hours allowed for a good work/life balance.

Now having qualified into the Construction team, I feel that the experiences I have taken from the training contract have been really beneficial to my start to life as a qualified solicitor, as well as enabling me to meet and work with some great people along the way.
