
Sophia is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Litigation department.
Sophia acts on a range of commercial litigation with an emphasis on insolvency and restructuring. Her experience includes contentious and transactional insolvency matters, advising insolvency practitioners, creditors, banks, distressed companies and individuals in both corporate and personal insolvencies.
Sophia is a member of the London Solicitors Litigation Association and attends R3 courses and seminars. Sophia is captain of the Edwin Coe netball team and contributes regularly to the firm’s litigation blogs.
Sophia joined Edwin Coe as a trainee in September 2012 and qualified in September 2014. During her training contract, Sophia completed seats in property, commercial litigation (including group action litigation), corporate & commercial, and restructuring & insolvency.
In 2012, Sophia completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP London gaining a distinction. Following graduation, Sophia worked in the litigation group at the Treasury Solicitor’s Department, before joining the business development group at Slaughter and May.
- Advising a former administrator and supervisor of Miss Sixty UK Limited in relation to disciplinary proceedings instigated by the ACCA and in a separate claim made by the liquidator.
- Horton v Henry [2014] EWHC 4209 (Ch) – Advising the trustee in bankruptcy on his application for an income payments order in respect of the former bankrupt’s uncrystallised pension policies. Also advising the trustee in bankruptcy on his appeal of the High Court decision to the Court of Appeal, the judgment for which was handed down on 7 October 2016. - Advising the former chief executive of a large construction company on his bankruptcy and post-bankruptcy obligations to the trustee in bankruptcy.
