Potential action against Giambrone Law LLP

Edwin Coe LLP has been contacted by investors in relation to their investment in property in Calabria (Italy) through the Giambrone Law LLP. They have raised concerns about monies paid through Giambrone and the security of their investment. Investors have become more deeply concerned as a result of recent letters from Giambrone in Palermo seeking further payment of funds. The Solicitors Regulation Authority has looked into complaints against Gabriele Giambrone, Anna D’Arpa and Alessandra Bellanca; the then partners of Giambrone Law LLP. The matter was referred to the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal by a decision dated 7 July 2009. The allegations relate to breaches of the Solicitors’ Account Rules and the Solicitors’ Code of Conduct. The firm denies any wrongdoing.

If any claim by the investors against Giambrone Law LLP and/or its partners is upheld, any damages awarded are likely to be covered by the Professional Indemnity Insurance that all law firms are legally required to hold.

Edwin Coe LLP will continue to follow events and are on hand to help investors in the event that losses are suffered.

Head of litigation, David Greene, is liaising with Italian law firm, Ughi e Nunziante, in relation to potential claims against Giambrone and others.

Investors should contact David Greene at Edwin Coe.
