The Home Office confirmed the India Young Professionals Scheme ballot will open to applicants at 2:30pm IST  on 28th February and will close at 2:30pm on 2nd March 2023.

The Young Professionals Scheme for Indian nationals between the ages of 18-30 was included as part of the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership signed on 4 May 2021. Please see below for full details regarding eligibility criteria.

The new scheme will largely follow the existing Youth Mobility Scheme, in place for nationals of certain countries, and will allow young Indian professionals to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years. Nationals will first have to apply to enter the ballot – those notified as being successful will then be invited to apply for the visa under the scheme.

How to enter the ballot

Eligible Indian nationals will need to provide the following details when entering the online ballot:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Passport details
  • Scan/photo of current passport
  • Phone number
  • Email address

We understand successful entries will be picked at random and those results will be sent within 2 weeks of the ballot closing.

There are 2,400 visas available in the February ballot and successful applicants will have 30 days from the date of email to apply for their visa online.

Eligibility Requirements

Those individuals considering applying to the ballot should be aware of the following eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen;
  • Aged between 18 and 30; and
  • Holds a qualification equal to or above a bachelor’s degree (RQF Level 6).

Individuals must provide a local police certificate or a police clearance certificated issued no more than 6 months before date of application. They must also be able to demonstrate they have at least £2,530 available in a bank account to support themselves in the UK.
