Mykaela Brewerton
Since completing her postgraduate-level LLB at City, University of London, Mykaela has advised and defended clients against claims under the Companies Act 2006 and Insolvency Act 1986, including wrongful trading, misfeasance, and antecedent transaction claims across a range of insolvency proceedings.
Mykaela is committed to building strong professional relationships, supporting clients through challenging circumstances, and contributing to the success of the wider team. She is currently preparing for the SQE, with the aim of qualifying as a solicitor. Beyond her fee-earning work, she is passionate about access to justice, raising money for Advocate, a charity that pairs deserving clients with volunteer barristers.
Based on her past and current role in Restructuring & Insolvency, Mykaela advises her clients on:
- Corporate Insolvencies: Supporting various businesses through financial distress and advising Insolvency Practitioners on administrations, liquidations, and asset realisations.
- Lender and Creditor Matters: Advising on enforcement, recovery, and security issues.
- Director and Shareholder Disputes: Defending directors and guiding shareholders through various Company Act 2006 and Insolvency Act 1986 claims.
- Cross-Border Insolvency: Navigating complex multi-jurisdictional insolvency proceedings to maximize asset recovery and resolve cross-border disputes.
While Mykaela has a particular interest in contentious insolvency work, she takes a client-focused and pragmatic approach across all matters, ensuring clear communication and practical solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
