Team EC tries out the City’s first wallball court

David Greene, Elliot Francis, and Frederick Sheppard tried out the City’s first Wallball court in New Street Square in front of the ITV News cameras last Friday.

Wallball is a rapidly growing sport with a thriving World Tour and ongoing discussions about Olympic inclusion. In this fast-moving sport, players hit a ball against a wall using their hands – like squash, but without a racquet.

The court was created as part of the launch of the Fleet Street Quarter Fusion Games, a ten-week programme of free sporting events and leisure activities transforming some of the Quarter’s streets into hubs of activity, designed to inspire movement and spirited play. Pop up sporting activities include: bocce, outdoors chess, corn hole, circuits, table tennis and quoits. More details can be found on their website.

The Fleet Street Quarter Business Improvement District was created in 2022 by local businesses to position the area as a thriving and vibrant destination. Whilst Fleet Street is its heart, the quarter covers Chancery Lane, Holborn, Ludgate Hill and New Street Square.
