Global Talent Visas
The Global Talent visa was introduced to attract individuals who are recognised leaders, or who demonstrate the potential to become leaders, in specific fields.
• Arts and culture (encompassing areas such as architecture, fashion design, and film and television).
• Digital technology.
• Science, social science, engineering, humanities, and medicine.
This is a highly attractive immigration route for several reasons. Notably, it is unsponsored – applicants are instead required to obtain an endorsement from a Home Office-approved endorsing body or hold a prestigious prize recognised under the scheme.
The route offers a pathway to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after 3 years of continuous residence for applicants recognised as Exceptional Talent. For those recognised as Exceptional Promise by either the Arts Council or Tech Nation, eligibility for ILR requires 5 years of continuous residence.
Applications under the Global Talent route follow a two-stage process:
- Stage 1: involves applying to the relevant endorsing body for endorsement.
- Stage 2: follows endorsement and involves applying for entry clearance or leave to remain.
Our Immigration team has extensive experience supporting applicants under both the Exceptional Talent and Exceptional Promise routes, including assisting a well-known actress and a prominent African musician.
If you would like tailored advice on the eligibility criteria relevant to your discipline, please do not hesitate to contact our Immigration team.
