Simon Miles speaking at European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA) conference in Croatia

Edwin Coe is delighted to announce that Head of Intellectual Property, Simon Miles, will be speaking today at the 35th European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA) conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Simon will be providing a UK perspective with regards to the award of damages in trade mark cases. The Working Programme will start today and finish on Friday with the emphasis on the coming into force of the EU legislative package trade mark reform.
Simon has worked with a number of major global companies in creating, exploiting and protecting their brands. He also has considerable experience in sports law, having advised governing bodies, clubs and individuals on rights protection, sponsorship and database rights.
Simon has been involved in numerous significant reported cases in relation to trade mark, patent, copyright and database right infringement and is regularly recommended by clients for his contentious expertise.
Simon sits on the Council of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA), he is on the ITMA’s Law and Practice Committee, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) Working Group and the Designs Working Group.
ECTA is recognised as a peer by the European Commission, OHIM and The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), and has more than 30 years’ experience in promoting its members’ knowledge and professionalism. ECTA was the primary non-governmental professional association involved in the introduction of the Community Trade Mark (CTM) system during 1996 and has remained actively involved in the refinement and improvement of this very successful unitary trade mark system.
