Jeremy Curtis

Jeremy joined Edwin Coe in March 2025 as a Partner in the Private Client team.  He advises high-net-worth families and individuals, often with an international connection or dimension.

He is frequently instructed to diffuse potentially contentious matters and find solutions that avoid litigation and court.

Trusts and Tax

  • Acting as a trustee for a third and fourth generation of a wealthy family, with interests in a privately held company, real property – moving from agricultural interests to commercial real estate – and a substantial investment portfolio, gaining access to the managers of listed units and investment trusts.

Wills and Estate Planning

  • Preparing a will for a wealthy client with an estate comprising private company shares, listed shares, real property in London and Scotland, and a Lloyds NameCo.  Following the client’s death, the executor and then the trustee implemented the pre-death planning to give nil inheritance tax on the death.  Following post-death developments in the private company, further advice was given to release funds from the settlement to accelerate the interests of longer-term family beneficiaries (with the potential of further tax savings) while maintaining the financial security of the current beneficiary.
  • Acting as attorney for an elderly literary agent, dealing with collection and distribution of royalties, working with tax advisers to complete VAT and personal tax returns, and ultimately, the disposal of the literary agency.
  • Advising the executors of a multijurisdictional estate, the family wished to redirect to charity.  Working with legal and tax advisers in overseas jurisdictions to ensure that the favourable tax treatment possible under a UK deed of variation could be replicated in those jurisdictions.
