Old Alleynians in the Law – hosted by Edwin Coe LLP
The fourth meeting of the Old Alleynians (OAs) in the Law professional interest group took place on Tuesday 3 March 2015 at Edwin Coe’s office. This event was open to OAs of all ages working in all branches of the legal profession and offered opportunities to share expertise and develop valuable contacts. The event was hosted by Edwin Coe’s partner and OA, Shams Rahman and the keynote speaker was Sir Colin Rimer, another OA and recently retired Court of Appeal Judge. After graduating in law from Trinity Hall, Cambridge, Sir Colin was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1968. He practised at the Chancery Bar and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1988. In 1994, he was appointed a Justice of the High Court, assigned to the Chancery Division, and became a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn. He was appointed a Judge of the Employment Appeal Tribunal in 2002, a Judge of the Competition Appeal Tribunal in 2005 and a Lord Justice of Appeal in 2007. He retired as a Lord Justice in October 2014.
Sir Colin shared some memories of his time at the College and some thoughts on aspects of the law and its practice over the last 45 years. The event was well attended by OAs and other members of the firm.
