We are pleased to announce that we have rescheduled a new date to host our first construction law seminar for 2018 on Thursday 17 May 2018, which was postponed in early March due to the heavy snow. We would be delighted if you and your colleagues could join us for a lively discussion and networking.

This seminar will be led by Nik Haria, and will include presentations by Brenna Baye and guest speaker, David Pliener, Barrister from Hardwicke.

Agenda

  • Construction Bill and Retentions update – a review of the Government’s consultation on retentions in the construction industry and the development of the Construction (Retention Deposit Schemes) Bill, along with a general discussion about retentions including alternatives to retentions and what can be done if monies are not released by an employer.
  • Professional Negligence in Construction Claims: “Did the rules just change and nobody told us?” – will focus on whether the well-established rules in ‘Bolam’ still apply or whether the developing jurisprudence in the sphere of clinical negligence in cases such as Montgomery will be applied to construction professionals.
