Edwin Coe presents to real estate investors in Malaysia

On Monday 25 April Edwin Coe led a roundtable presentation in Malaysia focusing on the recent and forthcoming tax changes relevant for overseas investors planning to buy or already holding real estate in the UK.
The presentation took place at the invitation of, and was hosted by, prestigious Malaysian firm Ghazi & Lim whose 33 lawyers have established an impressive international reach stretching from Asia to Europe from out of their offices in Penang, Butterworth and Kuala Lumpur.
Frank Strachan said: “We are extremely grateful to Ghazi & Lim for providing Edwin Coe with the opportunity to explain the important and far-reaching tax changes which are relevant for offshore investors. Being aware of these trends and having a sound understanding of the impact of these changes so that an appropriate strategy can be put in place for the investor, will be key to successful future real estate investment in the UK.”
Mr Lim Chien Cheng, Partner of Ghazi & Lim said: “ Many thanks to Edwin Coe for this presentation. For those Malaysian investors who already own property in the UK, the tax regime at the time they purchased their property will have been quite different from the position today. Being aware of these changes is important to enable relevant structures and strategies to be put in place so that Malaysian investors can continue to invest in the UK with confidence.”
