Our Early Careers
Training Programme

Our programme is specifically tailored so that you get the optimum experience whilst training with us.
Our aim is for you to broaden your skills and gain exposure to different areas within our firm. You will work alongside experienced colleagues who are skilled in offering meaningful and constructive feedback to bolster your development.
Benefits

Set Experience

During your time as a trainee, you will be allocated to four seats from a range of practice areas, each one lasting for six months. In each seat, you will be assisting the whole department and will be exposed to a wide variety of matters.

No two days will be the same as you’ll find that one day you might be in court, the next might see you in client meetings, whilst completing research for various projects, and then you might be sent to attend social events with clients and other contacts. You’ll also be likely to attend seminars and asked to contribute articles for our newsletters and blogs.

Training

From day one, you will be given the opportunity to work on your own matters, under the guidance of a supervising partner or fee-earner. Training really does start from the moment you step through the door on your first day and continues throughout the two years you spend with us completing your training contract.

At Edwin Coe, we offer professional support throughout your career and have an established development programme for all our fee-earners.

Our Lawyers

Many of our partners are involved at a high level in professional bodies and associations or are contributors and authors of established legal texts.

A considerable number of our partners and senior solicitors are also ranked in the two leading legal directories, Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, ensuring you are learning from the some of the best lawyers within the legal industry.

Social

Although you will have a busy workload, we offer various opportunities throughout the year to meet and socialise with the rest of the firm.

We have a cup winning football team, a fearsome netball team, cricketers, and a social committee team to arrange a whole host of staff social events.

Corporate Social Responsibility

We fully support our commitment to CSR with a number of ongoing events and initiatives throughout the year. We also encourage every person in the firm to take a day off to provide volunteer services to the community. For further information please see our CSR area.

As you’re training, all of the partners and fee earners have an open door policy, welcome questions and are more than happy to take the time to talk you through something. Which, as a learning experience, is fantastic.

At Edwin Coe you will be part of a smaller trainee intake than other firms. This means that you can get to know your fellow trainees much better and rely on each other for support. I was delighted to be offered a qualification position with Edwin Coe.

At Edwin Coe you can be sure to get access to exceptional quality work, together with a high level of responsibility from an early stage. This prepares you well for qualification and ensures you acquire the skills required to be an associate.

The firm has established a strong culture of professionalism, mutual respect amongst colleagues and plenty of opportunity for social interaction. For me as a trainee, working in this environment provides a balanced and well-rounded learning experience.
