ICAEW Restructuring & Insolvency Conference

We were delighted to join ICAEW’s Restructuring & Insolvency Conference. This year, the conference celebrated its 10th anniversary and following on from the success of previous conferences, was delivered over two mornings in a virtual format.

At a time when the UK and the Rest of the World is taking tentative steps out of government restrictions, attention is turning to business rescue and recovery. The way we work and the cities where we work will change forever.

The conference covered not only government support and post COVID financial distress, but the abuse of government support and how data intelligence can recover hidden assets.

Edwin Coe’s Restructuring & Insolvency partner, Simeon Gilchrist, spoke at the conference. Simeon outlined the powers available to Liquidators and HMRC to clawback sums paid to businesses since March 2020 in connection with wrongly claimed furlough payments, and for the abuse of the Bounce Back Loan Scheme abuse. In addition, Simeon covered what advice accountants can give businesses to avoid any future claims.
