Luke Maynard
Luke is a Solicitor in our Insurance Disputes team. He acts exclusively for policyholders, advising on a broad range of insurance disputes.
Luke brings a fresh perspective shaped by previous experience acting for defendants in insurance litigation. During his training contract he acted in a number of complex, high value property damage claims arising from floods, fires, and third-party negligence. He is passionate about providing clients with clear and pragmatic advice to help form a roadmap for resolving their disputes.
Luke joined the firm in September 2025, having completed his training contract at a National Law firm.
In his Insurance Disputes practice, Luke advises policyholders on:
- Professional Negligence claims against insurance brokers: Supporting policyholders in evaluating and pursuing claims against brokers or other professionals where negligent advice or conduct has impacted coverage.
- Denial of liability and policy avoidance by insurers: Assessing insurer decisions to decline cover and advising on appropriate challenges, including resolution through mediation, arbitration or litigation where necessary.
EXPERIENCE
Luke’s experience includes:
Acting for insurers in the Russian Airlines Operator Policy reinsurance claims, resulting from the Russia-Ukraine war, valued at £7 billion.
Acting for a local council in defending a property damage claim valued at £4 million following flood damage.
