Jess is an Associate in our Private Client team. She is a personable and pragmatic private client solicitor who advises UK resident and non-UK resident individuals, families, and trustees on a wide range of matters.

She helps clients navigate the preparation of Wills, letters of wishes, and Lasting Powers of Attorney with clarity and care, ensuring their wishes are clearly documented.

 

Jess’ expertise also includes the creation, administration, and taxation of trusts, as well as advising on inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning, with a focus on long-term wealth protection. Jess is known for her approachable manner, and for providing practical, tailored advice that reflects each client’s unique circumstances and objectives.

Jess also supports clients through the probate and estate administration process, providing clear, empathetic guidance to personal representatives, trustees, and beneficiaries.

 

In addition to her client work, Jess is actively involved in Edwin Coe’s B Corp initiatives, contributing to projects that promote sustainability, social impact, and responsible business practices. She is also a member of the firm’s sports and social committee, helping to foster a strong sense of community at Edwin Coe.

 

Jess is a full STEP Member having completed the STEP Diploma in Trusts and Estates in 2022. Jess qualified into our Private Client in September 2020 having joined Edwin Coe in 2018. Jess graduated with an LLB from the University of Birmingham and completed her Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, receiving a Distinction.

Jess’s experience includes:
Implementing sensitive, practical and tax efficient estate planning for families where there are children or other heirs from more than one marriage or relationship to balance the needs of the surviving spouse and all the children, minimising the risk of future conflict.
Advising high-net-worth individuals on the preparation of their English Wills (and Lasting Powers of Attorney) in conjunction with international advisers and project managing the preparation of Wills (and powers of attorney) in other jurisdictions.
Advising unmarried cohabiting clients on their Wills and estate planning options, highlighting the commonly overlooked tax and legal differences between spouses/civil partner and unmarried cohabitees.
Advising on and implementing estate planning opportunities for business owners with a focus on succession planning and/or tax efficiency.
