Hallam Lewis
Hallam is a Solicitor in the Insurance Disputes team. He acts exclusively for policyholders in a wide range of insurance disputes.
He has a particular focus on broker negligence claims, and claims against insurers in respect of property damage, business interruption, and construction all-risks.
Within his practice, Hallam advises clients on all aspects of the dispute resolution cycle. He takes ownership of cases, driving them forwards and seeking a positive outcome for clients. He is technical, thorough, and pragmatic.
Hallam acts for private individuals and companies in a broad range of sectors on:
- Claims against insurers: resisting claim declinatures and securing recoveries against insurers.
- Claims against insurance brokers: pursuing brokers for professional negligence either concurrently or in the alternative to claims against insurers.
- General commercial litigation: pursuing and defending general commercial claims, including in relation to fraud and breach of warranty.
- Negotiated Dispute Resolution: settling disputes outside of the Court process, with a particular focus on Mediation.

Hallam’s experience includes:
Assisting the successful Claimants in the case of George on High Ltd & Anor -v- (1) Alan Boswell Insurance Brokers Ltd and (2) New India Assurance Company Ltd [2023] EWHC 1963 (Comm).
Acting for two private individuals in respect of their ongoing claim against their insurer under a new build homes warranty policy.
Acting for a UK company in respect of its ongoing claim against its insurer and insurance broker following a fire at its premises.
Assisting a global conglomerate in respect of its ongoing claim against its insurance broker following extensive losses arising out of Covid-19.
Acting for the UK arm of a European company with regards to its ongoing claim for breach of warranty.
