Dennis joined the Edwin Coe Intellectual Property and Business Services team in 2025.

With extensive experience in advising client both nationally and internationally, Dennis plays an active role in the firm.

 

Dennis is a Partner in the Intellectual Property and Business Services team with over 20 years of experience in advising businesses and individuals on the protection and exploitation of their valuable business IP and contracts.

 

He has a deep understanding and passion for businesses in sectors such as manufacturing, technology, IT, AI, R&D, cultural and creative industries, media and entertainment, retail, fashion, historical heritage, hospitality and leisure industries on various aspects of commercial, intellectual property and business law, both from a contentious and non-contentious perspective.

 

Dennis has advised on various specialist areas of law, including commercial and technology contracts, IT and AI, copyright, trade mark, design, patent, confidentiality, licensing, data protection, arts sector contracts, media agreements, distribution and funding, social media and influencer arrangements, trade mark or copyright disputes, branding, passing off and R&D contracts. He takes a robust and hands-on approach when assisting clients with negotiation and drafting of legal documentation and in particular on contractual disputes, trade mark or copyright infringements, passing off, design or patent licensing disputes, and other contentious matters.

 

He has been rated for four consecutive years by Chambers and Partners as a leader in the field of intellectual property law.

 

Dennis is fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and Cantonese.

EXPERIENCE
Dennis’s experience includes:
Acted on behalf of a record label based in China on a music copyright infringement case against a major international music streaming platform for streaming copyright-protected musical tracks without a licence.
Advised and assisted a UK product design and manufacturer in taking action against various design infringers and counterfeit manufacturers from various parts of Asia.
Represented a local bath products manufacturer against a trade mark dispute against major international toy company in relation to the use of a ‘generic’ trade mark.
Successfully defending a former employee of a leading British iconic ultra-luxury car company who is being sued by the car company for passing off and unauthorised use of confidential information.
Instigated numerous patent infringement claims on behalf of a US client over the infringement by UK counterfeit sellers of a patent-protected cutting-edge sound recording apparatus suitable for home use.
Acted for the UK-based organisation behind an internationally and historically significant deep-sea expedition which generated global interest, Dennis’s involvement included advising on all legal and contractual aspects as well as IP exploitation.
