Graduate Visas

The Graduate visa is an unsponsored immigration route introduced on 1 July 2021, designed to attract international students seeking to remain in the UK following the completion of their studies.

This route closely resembles the former Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) visa, which previously provided graduates with access to the UK labour market.

International students who pursuing work opportunities in the UK can now apply under the Graduate route. Eligible applicants must:

  • Have successfully completed a degree at undergraduate level or above at a Higher Education Provider with a recognised track record of compliance;
  • Submit their application from within the UK; and
  • Hold, or have most recently held, permission as a Student.

The Graduate visa offers individuals the flexibility to live and work in the UK without sponsorship. Currently, those who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree will be granted 2 years’ leave, while those who have completed a PhD will be granted 3 years’ leave.

Although this route does not lead directly to settlement, individuals may be eligible to switch to the Skilled Worker visa, subject to meeting the relevant requirements.
