Frank joined Edwin Coe as a partner in 2012 and is Head of Tax.

The Tax team specialises in certain core areas:

  • the representation of taxpayers who are under investigation by HMRC
  • advising onshore and offshore high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) and families wishing to ensure that their tax affairs are structured efficiently and compliantly
  • the preparation of UK compliance returns.

Frank has more than 25 years’ experience in tax dispute matters and is recognised as one of the leading practitioners in this specialised field. His detailed knowledge of HMRC’s practices and procedures means that he is able to achieve excellent settlement terms for clients. Frank has been trusted by many high-profile personalities in the media and sports world who have been investigated by HMRC to take on a dual role of ensuring that the investigation is finalised efficiently and effectively, but also to ensure that the details of the investigation do not become public knowledge.

In recent times, Frank has successfully settled many disclosures for clients who are seeking to regularise their affairs via one of HMRC’s offshore or onshore disclosure facilities. Frank is also advising a number of taxpayers who have been approached directly because HMRC has commenced CDF/COP 9 investigations into their tax affairs, and also those that are looking to extract themselves from tax schemes in an orderly and managed fashion.

Frank is a regular speaker and commentator in the local, national and industry specific press. He also has a 100% success rate when taking investigation cases which HMRC will not settle to the Tax Tribunal.

Frank travels extensively all over the world to meet clients and their advisors building on his many years of working in offshore jurisdictions advising trust companies, private banks, corporate service providers, law firms, tax firms and their respective clients. Currently, Frank is advising a number of individuals and their offshore advisors in relation to their obligations arising from  the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). In recent times, Frank has spoken at seminars in the UK, Switzerland, Monaco, Singapore and Malaysia on a variety of subjects related to tax.

Frank and his team are passionate about providing the very best service possible for their clients and their advice is governed by Legal Professional Privilege (LPP), something which is not available to firms of accountants or tax advisers, and guarantees clients absolute discretion and confidentiality. The Tax team also works very closely with their legal colleagues within Edwin Coe to offer the ability for clients to have all their tax and legal requirements dealt with under one roof.

  • COP 9 investigation – settlement with HMRC for nil liability.
  • LDF disclosure in relation to a client whose identity, due to their high-profile, was subject to code name within HMRC.
  • Resolving a long-running HMRC investigation in to a music group’s tour expenses.
  • Representation of a taxpayer arrested by HMRC. Removal of criminal proceedings with resolution under the civil contract settlement route.
You made the whole process so easy for us. I’d have no hesitation in recommending you.
