HMRC Operational Head of FIS Offshore Team to join Edwin Coe as Tax Director

Edwin Coe is delighted to announce that HMRC’s Operational Head of Fraud Investigation Services (FIS) London, Dmitri Surendran has joined the Tax team as Tax Director.

Dmitri was most recently an Operational Leader in HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) – Offshore, Corporate and Wealthy unit where he was responsible for leading the London Team which undertook HMRC’s most serious civil tax investigations under both COP 8 and COP 9. He also managed HMRC projects in relation to the utilisation of offshore data.

Dmitri joins Edwin Coe to advise clients who are subject to HMRC investigation in relation to direct taxes, including COP 8 and COP 9 cases. He will also advise clients in relation to the negotiation of settlements with HMRC, including aspects such as the imposition of penalties. Due to the unparalleled level of knowledge Dmitri holds in relation to HMRC investigation matters, Dmitri will also undertake reviews of clients with multi-jurisdictional affairs and structures to ensure that these are, and remain, compliant especially with the focus on global transparency, CRS and inter-government information exchange agreements.
