Edwin Coe’s Construction team offers both contentious and non-contentious legal services to clients across a variety of industry sectors, working closely with our firm’s other departments to provide an all-encompassing service to our clients.

Our non-contentious construction work regularly consists of acting for developers, contractors and/or funders in relation to either residential or commercial construction projects. Such transactions often involve collaborating with a client’s property lawyers, and we ensure that our advice is delivered in the context of the whole transaction and the commercial drivers behind it. We are also able to call upon specialists elsewhere within our firm and industry networks when necessary to advise on matters such as project finance and banking, corporate structures, tax, intellectual property, planning and health and safety issues. In addition, our team acts for all manner of consultants, including architects and engineers, reviewing and advising on forms of appointment provided by a potential employer.

Since we understand that most clients would prefer to resolve their construction dispute without resorting to formal dispute resolution, our team is well versed in the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques including negotiation, mediation, conciliation, joint expert determination and dispute review boards. Where matters escalate beyond ADR, our team has considerable experience acting for clients in relation to adjudication, and when full scale litigation or arbitration is unavoidable, we will staff the matter with an experienced partner-led team who will deal with the matter in the most cost-effective manner and will strive to achieve the most commercially advantageous solutions for our client.
