These notes are taken from a recent seminar given by Edwin Coe in relation to the legal issues which arise as a result of unauthorised use of trade marks in domain names, advertising keywords and metatag keywords. This follows apparent increasing concern amongst the public that companies and organisations are not being held sufficiently accountable for deaths caused by "criminal" negligence.
  • AIM Rule 26 (915kbb Adobe PDF) The latest AIM Rules published in February 2007 introduced a new Rule 26 ("the Rule"). AIM companies are now required to maintain a website that is compliant with Rule 26, and have until 20 August 2007 to ensure that they do so.
  • The Consumer Credit Act: What Businesses Need to Know (313kb Adobe PDF) The Consumer Credit Act ("the CCA") 2006, amends and supplements the Consumer Credit Act 1974 to provide greater protection to consumers and to establish a fairer and more transparent consumer credit market. Most of the amendments will be implemented by April 2008.
  • The new Companies Act: Importing US style Securities Litigation? (309kb Adobe PDF) The 2006 Companies Act ("the Act"), passed in November 2006, represents the biggest changes to company law in more than twenty years. Those parts of the Act which relate to transparency and electronic communications became effective on 20 January 2007.
