Joanna qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and joined Edwin Coe’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution team as a partner at the beginning of 2000.

Joanna has experience of almost every type of property dispute from joint venture and conveyancing disputes to boundary and insurance claims and from professional negligence and rectification claims to all matters arising from landlord and tenant relationships, including breaches of covenant, possession and service charge problems, business lease renewals and dilapidations claims.

She also has extensive experience in dealing with a wide variety of cases arising out of commercial transactions. Her areas of expertise include company and partnership disputes (acting for individual directors and partners as well as companies and partnerships), arbitrations, SFO, DTI and customs and excise investigations and prosecutions, intellectual property and computer disputes, as well as libel and professional negligence.

Clients range from substantial, high profile PLCs to small and medium size businesses in areas such as the media, publishing, property and construction, import/export, IT, insurance, corporate finance and a variety of professions.

Reported cases include the leading cases of Stein V Blake [1995] ALL ER 2961 (insolvency, set off in bankruptcy) and News Group Newspapers V Mirror Group Newspapers [1990] (comparative advertising and interim orders – dismissal of an injunction pending trial due to delay in proceeding).
