Flood case shows press freedom of expression can go too far

The recent decision in the case of Gary Flood v Times Newspapers Ltd (TNL) is particularly significant as libel laws are currently being reviewed by the Government on the grounds that under the existing law, freedom of expression of the press is not sufficiently protected. This case shows that in fact the balance can go too far in favour of the press.
